Tour Description

Your day will begin when you are collected from your hotel at around 09:30am. Your knowledgable and experienced Chauffeur will then take you on to the first destination of this London Tour.

Westminster Abbey

9:30am – 11:00am

Built in 1065 by Edward the Confessor, Westminster Abbey is one of the most beautiful landmark buildings in London. It has been the burial place for many of Britain’s Monarchs and significant figures since the 11th Century. The Abbey is also famous for Coronation Ceremonies and Weddings of the Royal Family. The most recent Royal wedding to be held in the Abbey was of Prince William and Katherine Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Changing The Guard at Buckingham Palace

11:15am – 12.00 noon

Buckingham Palace is a spectacular building and the London Residence of the reigning Monarch. The Palace is renowned for its colourful and musical Changing the Guard ceremony, where the soldiers, clad in their scarlet red tunics and tall ‘Bearskin’ hats, pass the palace key from the old guard to the new.

This is a daily event during the summer months and every other day for the rest of the year. During spells of inclement weather, the Changing the Guard ceremony will not take place.

St. Paul’s Cathedral

12:15pm – 1:15pm

The original Cathedral that stood on the site which was predominantly constructed of wood, was destroyed by the Great Fire of London in 1666. It wasn’t until 1669 that Sir Christopher Wren was officially assigned the task of redesigning the Cathedral to the magnificent structure we see today. Amongst his other works, Sir Christopher Wren was also responsible for the reconstruction of over 50 London churches.

To this day, St Paul’s Cathedral forms a dominant part of London’s skyline and is possibly one of the world’s most recognisable buildings.

Lunch

1:20pm – 2:30pm

There are many options available for luncheon.

The Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is a popular choice. Famed for its spectacular views across the River Thames back to St Paul’s, the Swan serves modern British food.
Other options include The George Inn. This is one of the oldest pubs in London and the only surviving ‘Galleried Coaching Inn’ dating back to the Medieval period. It was a popular haunt of Charles Dickens, who was a frequent visitor.

Tower of London

2:45pm – 4:45pm

Built in 1066 by William the Conqueror, The Tower of London was amongst other things, an early Royal residence. It has a dark and bloody past and served as a Prison, an Armoury and place of retreat during unsettled times.

The Crown Jewels are held at the Tower, which is guarded by Yeoman Warders. The Tower is also famously home to several Ravens and legend proclaims that should the Ravens ever leave, then the Kingdom would fall.

The London Eye

5:00pm – 5:35pm (drop back at hotel at 6:00pm)

The London Eye provides what is possibly the best vantage point for viewing the London skyline. It is the tallest Ferris Wheel in Europe at 443ft (135 metres) with a diameter of 394ft (120 metres). In total, there are 32 air-conditioned ‘Pods’ that slowly make their way around the wheel every 30 minutes.
As the most popular paid for tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, it is definitely one not to be missed.

This completes the London Tour, at which point your Chauffeur can return you to your Hotel, or you can stay in London and enjoy the evening.
